Last week I went 3-3, counting the miss on the Matchup of The Week. However, to decide whether it was a winning week or a losing week we must closely examine what I wrote for Tyler and Weston’s matchup:
What the fuck is Tyler doing with his tight end position? Just offered him a trade. If he accepts he will win. If not, he will lose. I’m ready to give him Julius Thomas vs Oakland for this week if I can get someone in return. Honestly, that is my pick. If he can find a suitable replacement then I pick him, but I’m certainly not picking someone who leaves a blank spot in their lineup (see: Xavi last week). Weston, don’t fret I’m sure I’ll be picking you a lot now that you have Zeke and this is kind of a half pick anyway.
Pros:
- “If he accepts he will win. If not, he will lose.” He did not accept.
- “Honestly, that is my pick.” a definitive statement BEFORE any mention of considering Tyler.
- “I’m certainly not picking [Tyler]” as the lineup stood at the time of my writing.
Cons:
- “If he can find a suitable replacement then I pick him” Not favorable verbaige to defend myself when he spot starts Tamme, who had 1 catch for a TD, BUT less points than Julius Thomas. Turns out it was all irrelevant anyway.
The verdict? 4-3, by reason of insanity. (21-28)
Moving on to this week…
Matchup of The Week: Josh Gordon Is Coming vs Charles Schwab Series 7
Steven vs Tyler
I am doing myself no favors by picking this as the Matchup of The Week. If I could have avoided it, I probably would have picked like two teams playing each other with the same record. But as I said, I could not avoid it since no two teams playing each other this week have the same record. Sad! Steven’s team is going to heavily rely on the arm of Famous Jameis this week against the Oakland Raiders. That might sound great, but you have to remember that Evans and Brate can’t score at the same time and that Jaquizz Rodgers is carrying the ball all day every day. Not to mention Vincent Jackson’s replacement Russel Shepard has looked good (starting for the Tom Hillier Experience and all of his daily fantasy lineups). Tyler has a different Russel, in Russel Wilson who is projected over 20 points. The immobile Wilson has only done that once this year and they will find that Christine Michael will do the job just fine running the ball. I’m with Steven and Jameis, throw your heart out, kid.
Finger Friday vs The Tom Hillier Experience
Brendan vs Myself
Man, that last one was long. I pick me. Brendan’s teams have tragedy in their blood.
Remember Tyler Berry vs Brad “the poop” Williamson
Brad L vs Andrew
Sometimes it’s hard to remember that this is Andrew’s team and not Brad W’s. Happen to anyone else? I’m picking Brad again. I know I know, he’s responsible for a lot of my losses but I really don’t like Andrew’s team without Bell and Landry. Alfred Morris against the Eagles is a strange one, Benjamin has not been very effective (Pokemonian slip), and I could say the same for Tate and Bortles. I think Brad pulls it off with a big game from Ryan, Booker and Will Fuller V.
NOMO ROMO vs Team Janice Whartenby
Tj vs Carey
Got a little confused during my first glimpse at the naked box score when I saw NOMO ROMO and the team abbreviation romo not belonging to the same team. Romo has a deep history in our league, this much is true. I’m going with NOMO ROMO because I believe in the following story lines: OAK vs TB shootout, CMike going bananas, Jaquizz Rodgers is the real deal, Allen Robinson doesn’t actually suck, Tyler Eifert loves tuddys and the Eagles defense often outperforms expectations. Tip of the cap to Carey for starting CJ Fiedorowicz, I think that’s an awesome matchup and I’ve got him in DraftKings. I see this as another Jeremy Hill week and Moncreif’s return to form will not be immediate. You’ll get Odell back next week.
Colin A “missing”person vs Crook’s Trophy Shop
Colin vs Brad W
Colin once again has a blank spot in his lineup. He needs to pick up a defense. I want Colin to win this one and he does have the pieces to do it, especially if the 2015 Panthers take the field. Coming off their bye, I’m willing to bet if there’s any game where the Panthers defense gets hot again it’s this one. Carson Palmer hasn’t been letting it fly, their receivers outside of Larry haven’t impressed a single soul, but the real task at hand is David “Big Swingin” Johnson. I hate Blount and and Baldwin. Colin, pick up the Bears D and let’s do this thing.
Chips n’ Gronk vs Andrew Pooped His Pants
Xavi vs Weston
Going with Weston here. I don’t like it but that’s the call. Because of byes, Xavi has nothing better to go with than TJ Yeldon and Stefon Diggs. Players, who apart from one game each, have been a total boner kill. Brees has a tough matchup, but at least he’s home. Even though I hate kickers and am beginning my campaign to end them, I can honestly say that it sucks to have to sit Justin Tucker for Weston. He’s money from near and far. Maybe Lambo can get 15+ again to keep Xavi in it, he did it to me.
I can finally breathe again. It feels good to let these hot takes out. Also, I’ve noticed that I can talk about daily fantasy without getting the same blowback as talking about my other leagues.
