A lot went down this week in the wonderful wild world of football. The Bills have won their 4th straight game, rushing for over 300 yards against the 49ers which is absolutely ridiculous. National media is starting to realize that the Bills are good, even though we’ve already known that already. I’ve been giving the group chat a daily dose of Bills statistics and they haven’t complained yet.
In fantasy news, Odell finally had the big game everyone that drafted him (Carey) has been hoping for, Eli promptly said after the game that Beckham is a little bitch when he doesn’t get the ball. Denver looked bad against the Chargers on Thursday night football, and injuries are all the rage this year.
In a battle between cat loving roommates (Zog and Crooke), Carey pulled out an underdog win against the previously 4-1 Steven Herzog. Carey rode to victory on the backs of his first round pick Odell Beckham Jr., and a recently picked up Mariota who has been lighting it up the last two weeks. Carey’s running backs are getting a little thin with Ingram and Matthews pulling out a mediocre 6 points each. On the other side, Herzog got some solid points from most positions except for Alex Smith and Jesse James. James was coming off some solid weeks, but Pittsburgh was blown out by Miami of all teams. It’s hard to tell how good Pittsburgh is when they play so inconsistently from week to week, but if Steven can keep up his week-to-week consistency, he’ll be in good shape.
Brendan and Ders participated in the lowest scoring match up of the week, mainly due to the fact the Big Ben was found dead on the field. The good news for Brenda is that he might actually get Dez “Didn’t catch the ball” Bryant back in his lineup. Fun fact of the week – If Brendan had started Tom Brady instead of Big Ben, he would have won this week with a score of 80.5-80.4. That would actually drive me batshit crazy, but at least he doesn’t have to make that decision anymore with Ben out for the rest of the fantasy relevant year. Andrew moves to 4-2, even with his own shitty quarterback performance from Bortles. Instead, he’s been coasting off consistent weeks from his best player, Adam Vinatieri. The stud kicker hasn’t scored less than 8 points in a game so far, and has a 23-point performance.
Andrew Pooped His Pants, aka Weston, aka Romo groupie played against the occasional rival NFC East supporter NOMO ROMO. Weston gets the win here with Drew Brees, even though he’s starting to realize Romo may never again be the Cowboys starting quarterback. Jamaal Charles made his first meaningful appearance, getting his first touchdown of the season, and James White had himself a day with two receiving touchdowns. TJ is still having to deal with badly timed injuries and bye weeks and can only keep playing Ertz for so much longer before he gives up entirely on him and the Eagles. The Seahawks are looking pretty good though, so we may or may not see a change of heart for TJ in the coming weeks.

Xavi got to play against the surprising highest scoring team of the week owned by none other than Colin “Cinema” Apperson. Even with a -4 performance from his defense, Colin was still able to score 122.8 points with 5 of his players scoring 19.5 points or more. That’s the kind of consistency he’ll need moving forward to stay in the mix. As long as he sets his lineup, he’ll have as good a shot as any to win some more in the coming weeks. Pryor continues to be the best player on the Browns team with another two touchdowns himself this week. Xavi’s also dealing with injury problems, with Andrew Luck, Hyde, John Brown, Jordan Reed, Diggs, Starks and Steve Smith hurt. On a positive note, Jay Ajayi finally lived up to his potential with two hundred yards on the ground. It’s always better to know that even if you had started a bench guy that exploded, you still would’ve lost, unlike Brendan’s almost win.
Tom’s low scoring weeks are starting to catch up to him, but he does have the pieces to turn it around. Justin Forsett showed a lot of potential to have a good week, then busted immediately all over Tom’s fantasy hopes. Rodgers isn’t looking too great this year, but he’s been a good enough quarterback in the past to get another shot. Tyler’s team is starting to look really good, and he’s putting up the most points in the league so far to prove it. He’ll need to start the right qb week to week though – Wilson and Stafford have been inconsistent on a week to week basis. Shady was also hurt this week and may need a couple weeks to recover, which may leave Tyler with a rough stretch, but he has the depth to recover.
Last but not least, this week was the Battle of the Brads, and Brad won. Brad Lopes was up by 9 points going into Monday night (4th straight loss because of a Monday night game), but BWill still had Palmer and David Johnson to play. Zeke continued with his usual 150+ yard performance and probably won’t slow down. Lopes (me) has arguably been hit hardest by injuries – RIP Watkins, Decker, White, Lacy, Royal (most of the time), and Will Fuller week-to-week. Brad Williamson has finally waited long enough to see Gronk have his first 20 point game of the season, and he’ll probably have more.
*Blockbuster Trade of the week:
- Jamaal Charles, Randall Cobb, Vikings D
- Ezekiel Elliot, Patriots D
Brad Lopes and Weston Case Seidler were part of the biggest blockbuster of the season to this point. Remember Tyler Berry is in last place and needed to make some moves, and Weston was looking for a way to improve his team for a playoff run. The only way to get enough depth was to trade #1 all time running back Zeke. As sad as it was to trade him away, it was necessary in order to bolster the roster to stay competitive. This trade really benefited both teams as Weston got a running back who will more than likely end the season as one of the top two fantasy backs if he stays healthy.
Bye Zeke.
