The Good:
QB
- Matt Ryan – Ryan built off his good week one performance and put up 396 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Oakland defense. He’ll need to stay consistent, and should be fine as long as Julio plays.
- Cam Newton – playing like he wants another Super Bowl shot this year putting up some really nice games to start the season.
- Derek Carr – Carr is pushing to be one of the best in the league, and he’s playing better than most. Can the young gun keep it up for the entire year?
RB
- DeAngelo Williams – They’re really putting their stud backup running back to good use with 58 carries in the first two weeks. He’s produced when they’ve needed him to.
- Matt Forte – The Jets new running back had three touchdowns on Thursday night and 100 yards rushing against the Bills.
- Melvin Gordon – Gordon is looking like a much better back this year and is playing exactly how they wanted him to when he was drafted in the first round last year. With Woodhead out expect an uptick in his workload week to week.
WR
- Kelvin Benjamin- After sitting out last year with an injury, Kelvin has returned to form, scoring 3 touchdowns in these first two weeks.
- Stefon Diggs – With almost 300 yards on 16 catches in two games, it doesn’t matter who’s playing quarterback, he’ll catch balls from everyone or anyone.
- Larry Fitzgerald – Fitz is an ageless monster. He’s had three touchdowns and 81 yards in each game to be the fourth best wide receiver in fantasy so far.
TE
- Greg Olsen – Olsen has been an absolute beast early in the season and is an integral part of the offense moving forward. He already has 17 targets and will look to continue that in week three.
- Martellus Bennett – After a bad week one performance, Bennett had the day we expected with Gronk being out. We’ll see if Gronk comes back and limits Bennett’s opportunity.
- Vance McDonald – The 49ers tight end hasn’t been a huge part of the offense, but he has scored in each game and is the second ranked tight end in fantasy.
The Bad:
QB
- Andrew Luck – Luck’s bad week two performance can be attributed to the Denver defense beating up on his bad offensive line.
- Drew Brees – Everyone thought the game between the Saints and the Giants was going to resemble last year’s high scoring shootout. Instead, the Giant’s defense, led by a fingerless Pierre-Paul , forced Brees into a mediocre performance.
- Eli Manning – Similar to Brees’ performance, Mannings performance was below average without the much expected shoot-out.
RB
- Adrian Peterson – AP was injured early in the game, and is now out for the next 3-4 months. As the number one running back off the board this year, this is as disappointing loss as it comes.
- Carlos Hyde – In typical Hyde fashion, he had an excellent week one, and a bad week two. That’s the only consistency we’ve seen from him in the past two seasons, and hopefully he can play up to his potential since replacing Frank Gore in a run-heavy offense.
- Thomas Rawls – Rawls, drafted early enough in most drafts to be considered a top running back, may have lost his starting job to Christine Michael. He performed like a back-up running back last week with -7 yards rushing for the game. -7 yards.
WR
- Sammy Watkins – Watkins had another bad performance in week two against the Jets defense who gave up big nights to Greg Salas and Marquise Goodwin instead. Is the injury still giving him problems? We’ll see how his value changes with a shake-up at offensive coordinator.
- Antonio Brown – You won’t see his name on this list very often, by the Bengals kept him in check all night, only giving him 4 receptions for 39 yards. Don’t expect this to happen very often – he’s still the best receiver in football.
- Randall Cobb – Cobb hasn’t played well at all this year and it could be the result of a mediocre Green Bay offense. Jordy, Lacy and Rodgers are all healthy, but this offense has been stagnant thus far. Expect the Packers to improve as the season progresses.
TE
- Brent Celek – The presumed starter when Ertz went down with an injury, he actually took a back seat to Trey Burton instead. He had 0 catches where Burton had 5 for 49 and a touchdown.
- Dwayne Allen – It seems like Allen will never be the number one tight end in the Colts offense. Doyle again made a few plays, but the entire Colts offense looked bad against the Denver defense.
- Gary Barnidge – Those of us expecting Barnidge to return to last year’s pro bowl form were disappointed again when McCown went down with an injury. The Browns are onto their third quarterback in as many weeks, so we’ll see how the rook Kessler uses his weapons around him. WR Coleman is also out for a while so that may boost Barnidge’s stock going forward.
